Phenological, Morphological and Agronomic Characterization of Bambara Groundnut Genotypes on Plinthite Soil in East-centre Area, Burkina Faso

Bambara groundnut has long been a neglected and understudied crop. Thanks to the new orientations for développement of agriculture achievement food security in Burkina Faso, recent years, studies on have experienced renewed interest. Despites nutritional, agronomic socio-economic importance some carried out this The diversity within cultivated remains poorly understood. objective study was assess phenological morphological characterization 20 accessions from National Institute Environment Agricultural Research (INERA) genebank. experimental device used completely randomized Fisher blocks with four replications site University Centre Tenkodogo. These were evaluated 23 characters including qualitative 19 quantitative characters. Qualitative traits showed high proportion oval terminal leaflet shape (70%), cream coloured seeds (45%) 80% presence eyes various shapes colours. analysis all are discriminating except plant spread (PlS) at 5% treshold regard morphological, physiological low coefficient variation (CV) values different characters, number days sowing 50% plantlet emergence (EMG50). Pearson correlation matrix indicated positive negative correlation. Most observed between dendrogram organization variability three groups basis physiological, traits. expressed among INERA gene bank genotypes important variability, which can be exploited breeding programs using clustering associations
